A Star Blew A "Diamond Ring" Bubble In Space

The 'Diamond Ring' structure glows brightly in infrared and is about 20 light-years in diameter. It's a bubble blown by a massive star, when its powerful stellar winds and radiation cleared the region around it. Unlike other star-blown bubbles, this one is only a slowly-expanding, flat ring. A gaseous, dusty structure in the Cygnus X star formation region is reminiscent of a glowing diamond ring. There are others that are similar, but they're spherical and this one is flat. A team of researchers have figured out why.
